Learning from the best

It is not easy to find ways to improve oneself.  Instead, it’s probably more common for people to want to change others.  Why is this so?  You could probably think of a number of reasons why this might be the case.

At times an idea or a change that we suggest to others may not be received well, due to our limited skills in communicating and even lack of preparation for a successul outcome.   Yes, is it true that their could be a cost in being successful?  Preparation, rising above the ridicule by peers, listening and taking opportunities when they occur are some examples of what a person may need to do to be successful.

If you think there is merit in learning from the best, then consider learning how to overcome these barriers from someone who has already done so and who has the Guinness Book of World Record’s title as the “World’s Greatest Salesman”,  Joe Girard!

Accounting: ATO, personal, real estate and more

Have you been looking for a good common sense accounting package to track your income and expenses for your real estate business, other business tax or personal tax?  Maybe, like me you need an alternative to the ATOs (Australian Taxation Office’s) e-records software.  Well here is one for your consideration.

Big Saver!

Big Saver is a play on the words Big Spender.

In the same way that the singer entices Big Spender to spend a little time with her, this blog page seeks some of your time to think about making saving a reality.

If you were going to save, let’s consider where you could find a massive saving store.  Probably the best option for the sake of this discussion would be an online store that can be accessed anywhere when you are online.  That mostly means when you are at home or at play and hopefully not so much at work.

Can a Blog sell a second hand musical instrument?

This is the question I now ask myself as I write this blog.

Recently, following the advice of an online marketing training course that I completed, I have focused on creating a web store for a niche market that

  • Had a reasonable number of searches on Google
  • Had less than 500,000 sites competing to answer the niche and
  • Had affiliate suppliers that I could sell for.

Well the result is my…  Read more…

Online Marketing 101

Have you made the transition from offline work to online marketing.  What an exciting and different place it is.  I personally have made the change for a number of reasons which include

  • having an IT background
  • the ability to source free affiliate advertisers and drop-ship suppliers
  • free online resources and
  • the potential returns from a well placed, finely tuned turn-key website.

This transition started last year and I thought it would be timely to provide few online marketing terms to assist anyone who is treading this online landscape and would appreciate a headstart in speaking with others about these terms.   Read more…

Protect your computer and your family

How do you protect your computer? A computer can be a work machine, a household reference source and a child’s toy during different times of the day depending on who in the family is using it.

As computers become simpler to use, even for a four year old, the technology computers use is still highly technical and complex. So, one wonders how we, as parents, can secure our computers and families from modern threats targeting them through this technology?

With the ease and freedom of surfing the information highway, the responsibility to allow access to useful and safe resources and to avoid resources that are harmful and unsafe is becoming more important for us to think about and act on each day. Read more…

Build blogs upside down

To date, I have been publishing information on this Blog as individual Blog posts.  This is mostly due to being new at Blogging and not knowing how to do it otherwise.  Lately, however, I have started to notice that other Blogs start their main page with a summary and allow you to go to another page to read the whole article.  Here is how I do it.  Read more…

What has funk got to do with business and the economy?

Although I posted a technique for coping with ‘Information Overload’ below, I didn’t realise I would have to take my advice so quickly.

A couple of readers have commented on my posts with links back to their Blogs. Way to go guys and gals!Well, taking an interest in who these people are and what their ideas are, I read their Blogs with interest and found a word that I was not familiar with in more than one place.

The word was Funk.  Read more…

Copyright, back links and language translation

Wow, since I started this Blog, I have had the opportunity to moderate two comments on my “Information Overload” post.

Both comment requests started with compliments about the post and both commented on the benefits of linking web sites in order to optimse search engine results, with one offering to add a backlink if I allowed him (or her) to use parts of my Blog in his (or her) Blog.  Read more…

Information overload

Hello folks,

Recently, I joined a Viral Marketing Community for Marketers, ViralNetwork, which I think was my second or third Viral Marketing community that I have joined.  The reason I say “I think” I have, is because, I have registered on a number of sites lately that inidicate they will allow me to send advertising to their members free and I think these type of sites are also Viral Marketing sites.

A quick look at the Wiki Dictionary and the definition I get is: Read more…
