How to Splice Off Your dreambox Satellite Receiver

How to Splice Off Your dreambox Satellite Receiver
Satellite television is now in more than 25 percent of American homes. The majority of satellite TV service in the United States comes from two main providers: DISH Network and DirecTV. The only way to get satellite TV into your home is through a small satellite dish, which is usually installed on the exterior of your residence. From there, the dish is connected to a cable, which routes the programming into your home. If you want to receive satellite service on multiple television sets in your home, you’ll have to use a splitter to splice the cable in multiple directions. Doing this without the approval of your satellite provider is illegal, and should only be done with permission from the providing company.
Call your satellite provider and tell them you want to order service for multiple television sets in your home. Skipping this step could cause you to break the law.
2
Run the wire from your satellite dish to a splitter. This splitter will help you route the satellite signal to multiple televisions in your home.

Connect coaxial cable from the splitter to your home’s television sets. If you choose to use a raw bolt of coaxial cable, you’ll have to add your own coaxial ends to each end of the cable so you can connect it to the splitter and to the receiver box.
4
Attach the free end of the coaxial cable to the back of the receiver box, which should be provided by the satellite company. If you don’t have a receiver box for the television you’d like to connect the satellite to, call your provider and request an additional box. This will usually require a monthly charge; sometimes, this charge can be waived or covered with a promotional offer.
Tips & Warnings
Satellite providers will often offer free installation with service. If you select this option, your satellite company will install the satellite dish, the splitter and the coaxial wires in your home.
A splitter is the only legal way to splice satellite service from your dish. In order to receive satellite service, coaxial cables must connect directly from the satellite dish to the receiver box.
It is illegal to splice satellite service without permission from your satellite provider. The outline provided above should only be used by professionals working for a licensed satellite contractor, or for a homeowner working with the approval of his or her satellite provider.
