Lesson from Natural Disasters

What is the primary lesson that we should all learn from natural phenomena that are affecting our planet? Is it simply having better building codes and building stronger structures! Is it less carbon emission in the atmosphere to reduce global warming? And be resilient in recovering from whatever Mother Nature throws at us?
Regardless of how sensible and practical these trends of thought seem to be, they are not the primary lesson that one should learn from these natural phenomena. The primary lesson that one should learn is learning to stand in awe of God`s awesome majesty, because, “as for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, in judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. Therefore men fear Him; He shows no partiality to any who are wise of heart” (Job 37:23-24).
Because the irony of truth is, it is by the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen. Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds. And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them on the face of the whole earth. He causes it to come, whether for correction, or for His land, or for mercy” (Job 37:10-13).
There is absolutely nothing that happens without the express permission of the Almighty. For example the question is asked. “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:29-30).
Therefore, the primary lesson that we all should learn from the natural phenomena that are affecting the earth, is learning to fear God, because what is happening is as a result of man`s wickedness, and the fairness of God`s judgment. For thus says the Lord, “As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die O house of Israel?
God`s warning to everyone is as follows: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live because of his righteousness in the day that he sins.’
“When I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, but he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous works shall be remembered; but because of the iniquity that he has committed, he shall die. Again, when I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right, if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.”
“None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live. Yet the children of your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ But it is their way which is not fair! When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die because of it. But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it. Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge every one of you according to his own ways” (Ezekiel 33:11-20).
There is a definite way of life called the statutes of life by which we all should live, and whenever we violate these statutes the consequences are automatic. Our best security is to always abide in the presence of the Almighty. For we have His promise saying;
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day, or of the pestilence that walks in darkness, or of the destructions that lay waste at noonday: A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.”
“Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, or shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Psalms 91:1-12)
.The irony of truth is the LORD says: “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:15-19).
Basically, there are only two ways of life, one is the way which God has ordained by which man should live, and the other is living contrary to the ordained way, and each man is at liberty to walk after the imagination of his/her evil heart, doing what seems right in their own heart. One has the prerogative to either be a citizen in the kingdom of light, and living and walking in the Spirit, or being a citizen in the kingdom of darkness, and living and walking in accordance to the flesh, there are no middle grounds.
