Reasons why Christians should not be celebrating Christmas (part 4)

The fourth reason why true Christians should not be observing Christmas it is because, Whosoever worships God must worship Him in spirit and truth.
The scripture states quite emphatically, “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:22-24).
Now with regards to the celebration of Christmas, there is absolutely no evidence, no veracity, or proof that Jesus Christ having anything to do with this festival, and the worse indictment that has been indicted against believers is that of worshiping God according to the customs and traditions of men.
For thus says the Lord; “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘ This people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men … the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.” He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition” (Mark 7:6-9).
It is no secret that the main character that is depicted in the celebration of Christmas is Santa Claus, and despite whatever good that may have been said or written about Santa Claus as to its origin, the irony of truth is, the name of Jesus Christ ought not to be associated with such a festival.

For “Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.
I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42: 6-9).

It is absolutely clear that, the Lord does not share His glory with another, and since the main characters that are portrayed in the celebration of Christmas are foreign gods such as Santa Claus, Saturnalia, a holiday in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture, Juvenalia, a feast honoring the children of Rome, Mithra, the god of the unconquerable sun who was believed to be an infant god, born of a rock, and whose birthday was the most sacred of the year for the Romans, so how can Jesus Christ the Lord, who does not share His glory with no other be a part and parcel of such a celebration?
For it is written “Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the Lord your God has forbidden you. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God” (Deuteronomy 4:23-24).

Since it is stated quite distinctly saying, “(for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God)”, and the Lord clearly said; “These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.” Now since Christmas is not one of the Lord’s feasts, it is a clear indication that there is no veracity in associating this festival with Jesus Christ our Lord.
The worse dilemma is, professing Christians have blatantly rejected the festivals which the Lord have appointed and ordained as His festivals, and have tenaciously cleaved to those instituted by the customs and traditions of men. What an abomination?

To this the Lord says; “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?” Says the LORD. “I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs or goats. When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, to trample My courts?
Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies — I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:11-15).
It is high time that professing Christians learn to ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name, which is accomplished by observing His festivals at the appointed time, because every festival of the Lord commemorates the event which transpired on that particular day, on behalf of humanity. Furthermore, these times of ignorance God has overlooked, and now commands all men everywhere to repent.
To be continued.

Exercising one’s Human Rights

The question of Human Rights has become a hot debated issue throughout the entire hemisphere, never before have people become so vocal, and human activists demanding so much respect and the rights of other human beings, but the multimillion dollar question is, are we handling this issue by dealing with the cause, or are we handling it by dealing with the effects?
The first and foremost question one has to ask is, who determines the rights of a human being is it he himself/herself or is it designated by his maker or a higher authority?

Who for example determines one’s rights as a citizen of a country, does the citizen choose for him/herself how he or she wants to live regardless whether or not in contravenes the laws of the country? Aren’t there rules and regulations for every citizen of the country to obey, and if violated are subject to punishment?

Who therefore determines the rights of a human being? Is every human being has the right to choose for him/herself whatever he/she wants to do without reservations or restrictions, and everyone else has to accept and respect the individual’s choice?

Is such a behavior practical, tolerable and acceptable in a civil society? If such a behavior is not practical, intolerable, and unacceptable in a civil society, why should people conceive the idea that such a practice ought to be accepted and tolerated in our moral values?

The root cause for this delusion is, the people who are advocating such behaviors are those who according to the book of Romans chapter one, have rejected the authority of God over their lives, for although they know God, they do not glorify Him as God, nor are they thankful, but are futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts are darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

God is the one who determines the rights of every human being, the choice which every human being has is the choice to either comply with the rights which God has given him, or reject it. And so the Lord says to man; “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

The freedom of choice which man has is the choice to either live as God ordained, or to live in accordance to the imaginations of his/her own evil heart, doing what seem right unto them, which incidentally leads to death. It is therefore conclusive that those who are practicing and advocating the respect and rights of those who are indulging themselves in immoral practices which are contrary to the laws of God, have blatantly rejected the authority of God in their knowledge, and; “For this reason God has given them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in them-selves the penalty of their error which was due.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful” (Romans 1:26-31).

The human mind is such that if exposed to truth, it generates glory from one level to another as it is written; “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2Corinthians 3:18).

Human beings were created to evolve from one level of glory to another, and this is attainable only through the knowledge of Jesus Christ who created us, and therefore we have been admonished saying; “Put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all” (Colossians 3: 8-11).

However when this knowledge is either not pursued or rejected, the human mind degenerates from being knowledgeable and intelligent to becoming foolish and ignorant, then further degenerates to indulgence and lenient, and ultimately degenerates to being impenitent and corrupt. This is the natural process of the degeneration of the human mind that rejects the truth or the knowledge of God, because God is the one who supplies man with everything.
Therefore, when a person exchanged the truth of God for the lie (Satan), and worshiped and served the creature (Satan) rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever, God gives them up to vile passions. And even as they do not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gives them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting.

Man is not in full control of himself, he is either a servant of obedience which leads to righteousness, meaning doing things in accordance to the stipulated laws of God, or he is a servant of sin which leads to sin, that is, doing things in accordance to his/her independent nature that allows him/her the choice to choose for him/herself what is right and what is wrong.
For this reason we have been admonished saying; “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness” (Romans 6: 16-20).

It is said that “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.” Verifying the fact that those who serve the desires of their own heart are haters and despisers of God: while they become loyal and lovers of themselves. But the greatest fear of all is, “knowing the righteous judgment of God that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:32).
Therefore it is a dangerous precedence for the haters and despisers of God, to be attempting to coerce and influence higher authorities to be lenient and approve of their indulgence and corrupt practices, when by so doing will have the entire nation guilty of their sinful and shameful acts. May God have mercy on us.

Why is the World in such Turmoil (part 3)

1b. Violating the Law concerning Morality

Immorality is another contributing factor to the crisis the world faces today. The root cause of immorality is because people do not like to retain God in their knowledge. Again, forsaking the Lord, the fountain of living waters, and building for themselves cisterns…broken cisterns which cannot hold water. Professing to be wise, they become fools.

Man has changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four footed beasts and creeping things. Mankind has forsaken the Lord their God, and the fear of God is not in them. Therefore, because they have forsaken the Lord, and the fear of him is not in them, he also gave them over to uncleanness, in the lust of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves. They have exchanged the truth of God who is Jesus Christ and his Word, for the lie who is Satan, and are worshiping and serving the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.

Mankind has placed his/her passions, and feelings above the fear and respect of God, thus making him/herself an idol of worship The word of the Lord says quite explicitly; “Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple” (1Corinthians 3: 16-17).
The temple of God is our body, which has been purchased with the blood of Christ, and therefore our bodies are not our own, we are to glorify God in our bodies which belongs to him. The body we are told is, “Not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also” (1Corinthians 6: 13-14).

The irony of truth is, the fear of the Lord is not in man, we have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters, we have rejected God at one time or the other in our knowledge,  and because of this, we have lost all true sense of values. We are dishonoring our bodies with little or no regards as to who we are, and predestined to become. In our effort to combat the spread of aids, sexually transmitted diseases, and unwanted pregnancies for example, we are not focusing on the root cause of the problem, which is dishonoring of our bodies,  defiling the sacredness and sanctification of our bodies, which should be honored and respected as the temple of God, but the premise for our promotion and propaganda is rather on how not to deprive one’s self of his/her sexual pleasures, and how to avoid the consequences of our promiscuous lifestyle at all cost.

We show little or no reverence to the Lord’s admonition which states; “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified; that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men of all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, you gives you the Holy Spirit” (1Thessalonians 4:3-8).

Because we show little or no respect as to who we are, and not having the rightful fear of God in us, we do not take time to remind ourselves and ask; “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? And,  “Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute?
So because the fear of God is not in us, we do not have the will power to say when we are drawn into temptation, Never! Our customs, life styles and traditions have made the words of God of no effect. For the word of the Lord says; “Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:15-17).

The admonition that we have all received form the Lord is; “Flee from sexual immorality. All sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body” (1Corinthians 6:18).
The only sexual relationship that does not defile the body, is that of a husband and wife in a marriage relationship, and therefore we are told that; “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all sexually immoral” (Hebrews 13:4).

It is because mankind does not like to retain God in their knowledge, and have rejected the Lord, the fountain of living waters, and his word, that they now have a mind which is in the process of degeneration, from being knowledgeable and intelligent, to becoming foolish and ignorant, from foolish and ignorant, to indulgence and lenient, from indulgence and lenient, to having a debased and corrupt mind,  with an impenitent heart.

The irony of truth is, most people have a wrong concept of God, they consider only his goodness and  forget all about his severity. But we are to consider both the goodness and severity of God because, on those who fell, they will experience the severity of God, and those who continue in his goodness will experience his goodness. It is stated that, “…The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you” (1Chronicles 15:2). If you draw near to God he will draw near to you, if you forsake him he will give you up.

It is not because we are all susceptible, and vulnerable to the weaknesses of the flesh, that we should be fearful, or hesitant in proclaiming the pure and undiluted word of God. Proclaiming the pure and undiluted word of God is not like, “He who is without sin let him cast the first stone.” It is a calling to those who have been called to; “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins” (Isaiah 58:1).

What one needs to be mindful of is; “Let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.” But one should also consider that; “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.” But, “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1Corinthians 10: 12-13).

There is an antidote to help one overcome whatever fears, or skepticism he/she may have with regards to the proclamation of the pure undiluted word against all opposition. It is the example set by the apostle Paul who wrote; “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable. Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I discipline my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize” (1 Corinthians 9:25-27).

We are all created for the same purpose, and we all have the same battle to fight, which is against the flesh, and the spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly realm. Man’s problem is giving the flesh priority over his Creator, and since mankind rather serve the creature, including himself, rather than the Creator, “God has given them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations between a man and a woman, for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and are inflamed with lust for one another, men committing indecent acts with other men, even though the law against sexual immorality clearly states; “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman, it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

The problem is that simple, we are putting the passions and desires of the flesh before the word, and the fear of God, when we have been admonished saying; “Since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourself also with the same mind, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God” (1Peter 4:1).

It is time that we heed the admonition which says; “For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do… living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you. But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead” (1Peter 4: 2-5).
