The pantry is at the Harmar Community Center on Lancaster Street in Marietta, and will be open the following days and times: Thursday, 10 am to 8 pm Friday, 10 am to 8 pm Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm The Chocolate Jazz Concert fundraiser for the Humane Society is rescheduled for Thursday July 12th at 7pm at the Adelphia concert hall in Marietta. Doors open at 6: 30pm. The original concert with David Wells was postponed when the storm knocked out power last Friday night. Due to the power outage in the region, the Annual Broughton’s Ice Cream Social for this weekend July 8th has been changed to July 22. Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell says MonPower will not restore power to homes where the electrical service was pulled from the structure by the storm. It must be fixed first. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! The Salvation Army canteens will provide food at the Red Cross Cooling centers located at the Waterford Elementary School (19701 Ohio 339 Waterford 45786) and at the New Matamoras Elementary School (1000 Stover Dr., New Matamoras 45767) in Marietta. The centers opened last night and will be open Sunday. “We expect to continue to respond throughout Ohio over the next several days. We have mobile canteens and corps centers ready to respond at a moment’s notice, ” said Beth Fetzer-Rice, Emergency Disaster Coordinator. The Mineral Wells community building serves as a cooling station until 2pm July 4th. Get a meal and fill your water jugs. Many in Mineral Wells have no power. The city Council Chambers on the second floor of the Parkersburg City building will act as a cooling station for people needing heat relief. It will be open until 8: 00 pm every night. The Grand Central Avenue Church of Christ in Vienna is a cooling station. The little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department is a cooling station. It will remain open 24 hours a day until power is restored in the community. Air conditioning, water, and other drinks will be provided to those in need. WATER AND BOIL ADVISORIES: Residents of Grandview Township and the surrounding areas that need to haul water, can get water at New Matamoras’s bulk water sales outlet located at Front and Main streets. The water station is accessible 24 hours a day. Tri-County Rural Water customers, that includes everyone in Morgan, Noble and the community of Dale are under a boil water advisory until further notice. Boil the water for 3 minutes or get a gallon of clear water and add 6 drops of household bleach, stir then let it sit for 6 minutes for use. The Warren Community Water and Sewer Association lifted the boil advisory there. People in Lowell are asked to conserve water. Matt McLeish, a water and sewer operator there, tells us the village’s main water storage tank has only about 80, 000 gallon in it and without electricity, it cannot be re-filled. Lowell uses about 50, 000 gallons each day so if you live in Lowell, please do not hoard or over-use water there so that you and your neighbors can continue to have water. The WV DHHR has issued a Boil Water Advisory for residents who experienced no water, or have low water pressure, or cloudy water. Residents are advised to boil water vigorously (rolling boil) for at least one minute before consumption. Pleasants county is asking people to conserve water until the power outage is over. The Mason County PSD is running very low or out of water because of the power outage. A limited amount of drinking water will be delivered to local fire departments to hand out to people who need it the most. Union Williams Public Service District issued a boil alert because of low water supply. Lack of power means water can’t be pumped or treated. The Mineral Wells Public Service District asks customers to conserve water until power is restored. Cathy Dyer with the district tells WTAP News water levels are running low because of the power outage at the pump station. The Waterford Water and Sewer service and Tri-County Rural Water requests customers go to a limited use plan for the water. Kevin Tornes with the water system says water levels are getting low because of a lack of power at the well field. Ironically, the office has power, but the well field does not so water can’t be pumped to keep the service levels operating as normal. Limited use of water means, only use the water when necessary. WIRT COUNTY INFO: Bo Wriston, the director of Emergency Services in the county, says the power is slowly starting to come back on in the county. There is a cooling center open, it is at the Copelin Clinic in Elizabeth, and its opened from noon until 9, each day as needed. They are handing out water at the county courthouse there in Elizabeth… but it is limited to one case for each family. And the West Virginia National Guard is also handing out water at the Newark Community Center. If possible, call these centers before making the trip to make certain they are open as some of them have limited hours. A truckload of water is being delivered for distribution at the Bashan and Racine Fire Stations. Meigs County Health Department has been able to purchase a limited quantity of ice for distribution at the Portland Community Center to persons with extreme need. For help call 304-675-9911. MORE HEADLINES: Verizon opened a charging station at its store at 2504 Murdoch avenue. That is where a mobile charging station is located, and the station at 107 Pike street in Marietta is also available. City of North Hills is without water service. A federal disaster declaration was granted to Ohio and and a federal emergency declaration for West Virginia. Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell says it could be two weeks to a month until trees in the city are cleaned up and asks for patience from residents. AEP says more than 660, 000 customers lost power after the storm. The company calls the damage a “catastrophic event, ” with more than 1. 4 million in its eastern service area without power. The company is sticking with the five to seven day outlook for complete restoration. Severe storms are still part of the Saturday forecast and that will slow power crews should the storms happen and further damage occur. Governor Kasich declares state of emergency for all of Ohio. The state emergency operations center is open in Columbus to monitor response and coordinate help. The governor says FEMA was contacted and is ready to help if needed. Governor Kasich encourages people to use 211 community information service where available. Family of Christopher Fox, the man seriously injured when his car was crushed by falling tree says he is in critical but stable condition at Morgantown vera bradley bags.
