Adsense Alternatives For You!

Google Appliance as shown at RSA Expo 2008 in ...

Many people have started using Google’s AdSense program, but there are some who find it a bit too uncertain or simply not suiting their own requirements from an ad program.

But thankfully for such people, there are many alternatives to AdSense which attempt to alleviate some of its shortcomings. Here is a list of the most noteworthy ones from the lot with a description concerning each one.

AllFeeds (http://www.allfeeds.com/?action=publishers)
AllFeeds has a great pool of online advertisers to choose from. It also features many display formats that you can choose from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop-ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check every month, provided that you earn more then $25.00, while rolling over earnings for the next month if you don’t. Another interesting thing about AllFeeds is that it integrates with Google AdSense, maximizing your earnings with AdSense.

MarketBanker (http://www.marketbanker.com/mb/sell.php)
MarketBanker allows you the unique possiblity to set the pricing for your site. It also allows you to allow or reject any link that appears on your site (although AdSense itself does a very good job of this as well, with URL filters) There’s also a statistics section which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads are small just like AdSense’s and they’re just as easy to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.

BidClix ( http://www.bidclix.com/PubTop.html)
BidClix is different because it has advertisers compete for clicks on your site, which in turn is meant to generate the highest possible profits for your page. It also has a very large pool of advertisers which ensure there are plenty of people to choose your site. However, it does require more polish on site contents then AdSense. As most sites, real time statistics are available and its very easy to get started with this service, but it’s also very flexible.

Chitika (http://www.realcontext.com/index.php?option=RealContext:+Contextual+Targeting+Engine)
RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to retrieve the most relevant ads for your page. And there’s an extra feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are selected based upon which previous selections payed off and which didn’t. That means there’s a constant feedback process that ensures you gain better revenue from your ads. It also supports blocking certain adds and child-safe filtering and many more options.

AdHearus (http://adhearus.com/webmaster.php)
AdHearus is a very feature-packed contextual ad provider. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn’t stop here at all. The ads are very flexible, you can select from text-ads, banners, rectangles, pop-ups, pop-unders or skyscrapers. You can also display your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with conventional advertising technologies. There’s a very comprehensive on-line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such services, starting out is free and it’s a breeze.

AffiliateSensor (http://www.affiliatesensor.com/)
AffiliateSensor has highly customizable ad blocks, which you can make for yourself with an easy to use on-line interface. You also get realtime reporting with clicks-by-domain, page and refferer. There’s integration with Google AdSense as well, through the google_alternate_ad_url so AffiliateSensor can be used as a substitute for Google PSA’s (Public Service Ads).

Kanoodle Bright Ads (http://www.kanoodle.com/about/brightads.cool)
Kanoodle’s offering allows publishers to get ads related to topics or segments, and not the traditional keyword oriented ads. The site also groups publisher sites with advertisers by hand to ensure high-revenue generating ads. And speaking of revenue, the amount of money you receive is a clear 50% share of the amount of money Kanoodle recieves for an advertiser.

TargetPoint (http://publisher.targetpoint.com)
TargetPoint is oriented more towards content publishers. It offers full control over the look the ads, statistics over your site’s overall performance and better revenue. It’s free to register and you earn a guaranteed 60% of the total revenue. You can get payed with Paypal of Bank checks and (most times) wire transfers as well.

Clicksor (http://www.clicksor.com)
Clicksor will earn you as much as 60% from the amount of money your website produces. What you get is about the same as AdSense, there are targeted text ads, you can view the revenues from your website in real time. You can receive money via PayPal or through a check every two weeks, provided that you have earned more then $50. If you haven’t made that much, your earning roll over to the next period

You need to have optimized niche website templates for best results. You may find the best adsense templates and blog templates at www.AdsenseTemplates.com (http://www.adsensetemplates.com). They are offering 100 fresh new templates every month.

Donald

Super New Traffic Booster

Web 2.0
Image by Daniel F. Pigatto via Flickr

Are you happy with the traffic you are getting to your blog?  Would you like to reach new eyeballs and attract new readers?  There’s a brand new WordPress plug-in developed by Andy Fletcher that will help you do just that and it’s called WPSyndicator.  Just like the name indicates, this new plug-in will enable you to syndicate your blog content to 15 different Web 2.0 properties.  Oh, and it does that with a click of a button!  Just think of the time you’ll save not having to go around to these places yourself.  Or the money you’ll be saving, if you’ve been outsourcing this task.  This is one plug-in that will truly pay for itself within a few days of installing.

http://fossie09.wpsyndic.hop.clickbank.net/

The plug-in installs just as easily as any other WordPress plug-in.  It does take a while to set it up the first time because you have to set up all the details for the various Web 2.0 accounts but once that’s finished, it’s pretty much set it and forget it.  Once it’s installed, every time you go in to edit post, you’ll see a link in the top right hand corner that says “click here to syndicate”.  Click and you’re done.  It’s that easy.

In his latest update, creator Andy Fletcher, added a few features that early testers requested so WPSyndicator now will also syndicate pages and has auto-syndication capability.  This feature is disabled by default but if you want to enable it, you can and there is a handy rate limiting feature also added so that you don’t get banned from all the Web 2.0 sites for posting too many, too fast.  Personally, I recommend that you leave it disabled and just syndicate your best posts but you can choose whatever works best for you.

The content syndicated will be an excerpt from your post, the length that you specify, and will have a link back to your blog to read the rest.  You have a choice of leaving that to the default “Read more…” or changing it to a keyword specific anchor text.  Either will get you more traffic but the keyword anchor text may give you a more valuable backlink and boost in the SERPs.

This is truly one of the best new plug-ins to come along that will give your blog a traffic boost.  What will more traffic mean to you?  More subscribers to your list?  More sales?  Could easily be the boost you need to take your blog to the next level.

Thankyou,

Great New Plug-In For Traffic And Backlinks

Image representing LiveJournal as depicted in ...
Image via CrunchBase

I found a new tool that I am really excited about.  It’s called WPSyndicator and it’s a new WordPress plug-in that is absolutely amazing.  What it does is syndicate your posts to over a dozen hot Web 2.0 sites including LiveJournal, Tumblr and Multiply.  And it does this with one click!  It even tweets to my Twitterstream that I’ve just created a new blog post with a bit.ly link back to the post.

http://fossie09.wpsyndic.hop.clickbank.net/

WPSyndicator posts a designated excerpt of your blog post or page on the Web 2.0 sites with a link back to read the rest of the post.  You can set this excerpt to anything you wish but by default, it’s set to 500 characters.  That’s the perfect length for me but you may want to set if for fewer characters if you usually do short posts.  You can also specify the anchor text that brings the reader back to your blog which, as you know, is ideal for backlinks.

What does this mean to you?  Well, the people who got in on the pre-launch for WPSyndicator all reported increases in traffic, some by large amounts of new visitors, as well as an increase in subscribers.  Not only did they get more readers to sign up for their RSS feeds, but those with opt-in forms saw a very nice boost to their lists.  Plus they get the benefit of all those backlinks.

Andy has a great reputation for supporting everything he creates and this plug-in is no different.  In fact, he’s already issued at least two updates that I know of and added new features that his customers were asking for.  That shows you that he is a responsive creator who is sensitive to the needs of his customers, which goes a long way in my book.  When you buy WPSyndicator, you get lifetime support and Andy’s promise that if future WordPress updates change anything, he will update the plug-in to remain compatible.

Really, I just can’t say enough good things about WPSyndicator.  I would have been happy with any one of the benefits: more traffic, more backlinks or more subscribers.  But to get a plug-in that brings me all of those benefits?  It may be a cliché but it really is a no brainer.

Why You Should Promote Residual Affiliate Programs

WLGA logo used on its website immediately afte...
Image via Wikipedia

Are you a webmaster in need of additional income?  Or are you planning to set up an online business but you still don’t have any product to sell?  If so, affiliate marketing may be the best solution for your problems.  With affiliate marketing, you won’t need to worry about the products you have to sell.  All you need to have is a website with sufficient contents that are related to the products of a certain online company offering affiliate programs.  By becoming a member of the program, or by becoming an affiliate, you can start earning a certain amount of money right away!

Affiliate marketing is some sort of business relationship established between a merchant and his affiliates.  In affiliate marketing, an affiliate agrees to direct some traffic to a merchant’s website.  If that traffic is converted into some kind of action, like a visitor purchasing a product on the merchant’s website or a visitor becoming a lead for the company, the affiliate who directed the traffic will be compensated.  Compensation may take the form of either a percentage sales commission for the sales generated or a fixed fee predetermined upon the application of the affiliate on the merchant’s affiliate program.

Promising a lot of benefits both for the merchants and the affiliates, affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular online marketing methods today.  In fact, almost every merchant or retailer site today offers an affiliate program that any one can join into.  Most retailers would entice people to become affiliates or members of their program by promising great benefits like large commissions, lifetime commissions, click through incomes and a lot of other benefits.  But would all these affiliate programs bring off the same benefits?

Most affiliate programs would pay you, as an affiliate, a one-time commission for every sale or lead you brought to the merchant’s website.  Commissions for this kind of affiliate programs are usually large, ranging from 15% to a high of about 60%.  Other affiliate programs would pay you a fixed fee for every click through or traffic you send to the merchant’s site.  Programs like this often pay a smaller fee for every click through, usually not getting any larger than half a dollar.  The good thing about this kind of program, however, is that the visitor won’t have to purchase anything in order for the affiliate to get compensated.

Another type of affiliate program is the residual income affiliate program.  Residual affiliate programs usually pay only a small percentage of sales commission for every sale directed by the affiliate to the merchant’s site.  This commission often comes only in the range of 10% to 20% sales commission.  Because of this, many people ignore residual affiliate program and would rather opt for the high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  Are these people making a mistake, or are they making the right decision?

We can’t tell, for sure, if people are making a mistake by choosing a high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  But we can definitely say that they are making a large mistake if they ignore residual affiliate programs.  Residual affiliate programs would indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants offering such kind of programs would generally pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a single affiliate initiated sale!  That means, for the same effort you made in promoting a particular affiliate program, you get paid only once in a one-time commission program, and a regular and ongoing commission for a residual program!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual affiliate programs clearer to you now?  Or are they still vague?  If they are still vague, then let’s make them a bit clearer with this example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both offering web hosting services on their sites.  The first merchant offers a one-time commission type of affiliate program that pays $80 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  The second merchant also offers an affiliate program, but this time a residual affiliate program that pays only $10 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  As an affiliate, we may get attracted at once at what the first merchant is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger than $10.  But by thinking things over before actually getting into them, one may be able to see that the second merchant is offering us more opportunity to earn a larger amount of money.

Supposed you have directed traffic to the merchant and it converted into a sale, you’ll get paid once by the first merchant for the sale you have initiated.  But with the second merchant, you’ll get paid monthly for as long as the customer you have referred to the merchant continues to avail of the web hosting service.  That means that for the same effort of getting one customer to avail of the merchant’s service, you get paid monthly in residual affiliate programs while you only get paid once in a one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting?  Definitely yes, because you virtually get more money from these types of affiliate programs in the long run!  And would residual affiliate programs work best for you?  Probably not, probably yes.  It is not really for me to tell.  But with the benefits that residual affiliate marketing can provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such programs.

All The Best

7 Steps To A Responsive Marketing List

Step 1 – Define your targeted customers – Know who your targeted customers are before they know you.  Create a profile of the ideal candidate for your products, services or information.  Consider gender, age, income range, profession, job title, company, industry and interests.  Direct all marketing efforts to this targeted customer.

Step 2 – Internal or External List – Now that your customer’s profile is established, you must decide whether to use your internal customer list or an external list from an outside provider.  If you elect to use an outside provider, you will next decide whether to buy or rent a list.  Lists that are rented may only be used once.  There are no guarantees about the quality of the profiles on the provided list.  Building your own internal mailing list will generate the most responses and may well result in new referrals.

Step 3 – Create a Newsletter – Construct a newsletter that will appeal to your profiled customer.  Newsletters that are entertaining, contain useful information and are not solely focused on your products or services will create a readership.  This type e-newsletter is more likely to garner a following than newsletters that promote your products and services too aggressively.  As with any marketing tool, you only have one chance to make a first impression.

Step 4 – Add a “Sign Up for My E-Newsletter” – or “Join My Email List” sign-up box on your company’s website.  The purpose is to collect e-mails addresses of readers.  This is the core of your marketing list.  Even if you are generating traffic, you may not be capturing the all-important e-mail addresses of your readers.  Encouraging readers to sign-up for the newsletter is your chance to add to your customer list.   Visitors to your site are likely interested in your products, services or information, and apt to sign up to receive more information.

Step 5 – Get existing customers and contacts involved – Ask your contacts and customers for their email addresses and permission to send them your newsletter and other business communications.  If you have a physical place of business, put a sign-up book at the register counter.  Your current customers are your best marketing targets and sources.  If they have purchased from you before, they are likely to be buyers again.

Step 6 – Offer incentives for signing up.  Your free e-newsletter is an incentive, but you can also offer free white papers or a myriad of services.  Many businesses offer customers referral bonuses.  If customers like your products and services, they are likely to tell their friends.  Reward them and form a stronger link.

Step 7 – Ask your professional or trade association for their member list – If you belong to an association, gaining access to the member list is often one of your membership benefits.  When you attend conferences and trade shows, be aggressive about expanding your contact list.  While you are networking, ask fellow attendees if they can be added to your list.

Follow these seven steps and watch your list and sales grow.

What You Should Know Before Buying An Email Marketing List

In online marketing, one of the best ways of getting prospects is by getting email lists. You can either capture potential customers through your own opt-in form, or buy one from a reputable seller.  In online business, email marketing lists give you a chance to turn leads into buyers. It also has long term benefits when you develop a relationship with your new customer.

To make your products attractive and irresistible, gradually introduce yourself and offer them incentives, or freebies before you think of introducing your product. An alternative would be high quality targeted information delivered to the prospect in form of online newsletters or ezine. When the prospect gains your company’s trust, he will not have to think twice when you offer him a product.

Here are 3 things you should keep in mind when buying an email list:

Who Are You Targeting?

Having a list in itself is not helpful if the prospects would not be interested in what you have to offer. If your product is corporate office furniture and your leads comprise of scrap metal yards, it is unlikely that you will make a sale. Therefore, buy your email list from reputable vendors. Have a profile of who your target prospects are; their industry category, region and so on. Outline your requirements to the list broker to ensure you get the targeted results you want

Have The Emails Been Solicited Legitimately?

One of the major problems since the advent of the internet has been spam. This refers to unsolicited and untargeted emails sent to prospects without their consent. Some list vendors are notorious for using black hat techniques to harvest emails. When you get leads from them, the recipient can easily flag your email as spam and this will hurt the image of your business. Your target is to develop a relationship with the prospect, not get banned on your first email. This is why buying leads from reputable vendors is important.

Do You Really Need An Email List?

Any expense that you undertake in your business should be justifiable by the results it will bring. This also applies when buying email leads. Will the leads help you to recoup your investment within the time that you want? Targeted leads can be very expensive and you should thus be careful when going for them. Keep in mind that buying a high quality email marketing list does not guarantee you an increase in sales. There are many other factors to keep in mind such as the quality of your copy, your product or service offering and timing. All these must be perfected before you purchase a list.

By following the above tips, you will be able to choose a good list that will bring a positive return on investment in your business.

Creating a Successful Marketing List

To be able to have a successful marketing list, here are some points that you need to consider:

Don’t neglect your internal resources

It’s perfectly fine if you rent or buy an external list so you can have immediate access to a ready-made mailing list. Just don’t forget to check your own internal resources for old contacts, as these strengthen existing customer’s rapport and will yield more positive responses.

Don’t Utilise Outdated Mailing Lists

The time it takes to complete a mailing list may be too long, as by the time everything is compiled, the data on it has already become out dated. These changes can’t be avoided and so it is essential to check and update the lists every so often.  Make sure you check and process returned mail, research through online telephone directories, or verify your lists against fresh sources to confirm the current status of your customers.

Promote or Exchanging Your Customer List

Marketing your list to other associations is allowed provided that you seek first the customers’ permission as it is their right to know how their data is being used.   If they disagree to share their data to other companies, you should exclude their names from any lists you share with external parties.

Rent or Purchase an External Mailing List

Renting a list may be cheaper than purchasing a list; but you should think of the extra advantages of owning the list rather than borrowing. You may find out that buying is actually more cost-effective in the long term and efficient in terms of achieving better results, more positive responses and return on investment.

Make Use of Internal Compiled Lists

Rather than obtaining through direct mail list specialists, you can create your own internally created mailing lists.   Your own customised contact list could be your best resource for direct marketing, especially if your market target is your existing and good prospective customers. Lists from external sources may not contain the important additional data required to market your particular segment.   It is, however, recommended to import contact data from purchased or rented mailing lists if you are experimenting in new markets, where you may not have any contact information to start with.

The success of a direct mailing list comes from a well thought out direct mailing campaign.  You’ll avoid wasting precious campaign funds if you start with targetted client lists.  You should also take note of common mistakes like legal implications and outdated information, as these too may hinder postive results for your business.
