How to rank high in Google with LSI.

The days of keyword stuffing, single phrase optimization and concentrating only on incoming links to gain traffic are slowly being phased out as a more holistic approach to judging website content comes online. This new concept has many webmasters hopping, and it should. Latent semantic indexing is quickly becoming the wave of now.

Latent semantic indexing is a Google-driven creation that’s meant to better gauge the content of a web page in relation to the entire site to discover the overall theme. It is a more sophisticated measure of what sites and their pages are all about. While it doesn’t mean webmasters need to completely retool all of their keyword optimization efforts, it does mean depth needs to be a greater consideration.

The history behind latent semantic indexing is rather interesting. Google’s current ranking system, which relies on incoming links (or votes) and keywords to scan pages for relevancy when surfers do searches has been known for penalizing perfectly good sites. The system was set up to scan for relevance and quality. In the process, it has a habit of knocking new sites and those which add too much content too quickly. Although some of these sites, naturally, are those that result from link farming and quick keyword stuffed content generators, not all are unplanned fabrications.

Google wanted a better way, and found one. Latent semantic indexing is meant to scan the overall theme of a site, so as not to penalize those sites that have fresh, relevant and good content even if they do happen to pop up over night.

This new focus puts an emphasis on quality and freshness of content to help sites gain higher ranking position. In essence, latent semantic indexing is meant to give a searcher the best possible site to meet their needs based on relevant keywords and comprehensive coverage and not just incoming links.

This system basically presents a more fair way to give search engine users the pages they really want. It does what Google has always tried to do provide higher quality, more relevant results.

The old days of Google putting 80% of its emphasis on incoming links and 20% on the actual site itself are coming to an end. Incoming links will always have relevance, especially in regard to breaking search “ties” but they may not carry the same weight as before. This can make it a bit easier for those who work on their sites with an emphasis on quality to see real results.

What all of this means to web publishers is that those who have done and continue to do their jobs correctly will have a better chance of shining with latent semantic indexing. Those who keyword stuff, create nonsensical content and spend a lot of time using link farms likely will not.

The key to getting ahead in the new age of Google search falls on quality. Sites that provide useful and relevant information in regard to their content will be likely to do better on searches. Those that cut corners could find themselves at the bottom of the search totem pole.

Marrying weddings and Web to form a multimillion-dollar business.

BRAD and Jennifer Fallon got more than they bargained for when they walked down the aisle in 2003.

Their nuptials spawned a multi-million-dollar e-commerce site that 4 years later morphed into a veritable Internet empire consisting of more than half a dozen sites. But that is what happens when a bride who is determined to find something different for her wedding marries a groom who is an expert in search engine optimisation.

When Jennifer was planning her wedding, she turned to the Internet to find favours for her guests. Specifically, she was looking for place-card holders for the reception tables.

Finding examples online was not the problem. In fact, Jennifer was overwhelmed by just how many different online merchants were selling wedding favours. But she was underwhelmed by the quality and variety.

Her fruitless Internet shopping experience did not ruin her wedding—rather, it gave her and her fiance, Brad, a great business idea. They decided to start their own online wedding favours site and to distinguish theirs from the competition with broader merchandise offerings, better design and more targeted online marketing.

Via their website, My Wedding Favors, the Fallons carry about 600 different wedding favours, as well as bridesmaids’ gifts, groomsmen’s gifts and other wedding accessories. They ship 800 orders a day from their warehouse in Norcross, Georgia, near Atlanta.

They also have several other e-commerce sites, such as Elegant Wedding Bands and Quality Bridal Shoes.com, that they cross-promote to couples planning to marry. The Fallons are also behind many other non-related Web stores like Electric Scooters Galore, The Corner Stock and Instant Poker Chips.

Just a few months after getting hitched, Brad and Jennifer launched their website, My Wedding Favors, with an initial investment of less than US$1,000 (S$1,504) including US$50 spent on a Yahoo store. They chose Yahoo specifically because it was a quick, easy and affordable way to build a Web store.

With the rest of their initial US$1,000 investment, the Fallons bought merchandise at the Atlanta Gift Mart and funded an online advertising and search engine optimisation campaign.

Their Yahoo store launched with just 40 products, but within the first month, sales reached US$11,000. By the third month—on the strength of Web advertising and marketing—monthly sales rose to US$80,000. Within 6 months, the Fallons’ sales totalled US$150,000 a month, or US$1.8 million on an annualised basis.

Now, just 3 years into their venture, the Fallons are at the helm of a US$15 million company, with one-third of its revenues coming from their wedding favours site. They have both left full-time jobs to run their entrepreneurial venture.

The true reason for the Fallons’ success is that they drive a huge volume of traffic to their Yahoo store and convert a significant percentage of that traffic into sales. The Fallons went into business knowing there was a huge demand for wedding favours, decor and related items.

Leverage: The Power To Move Worlds by Daniel Turner & Marc Lindsay

R. Buckminster Fuller (“Bucky”) has probably the best definition of leverage that I’ve ever heard, and he defines it as this: “Ever more, with ever less”.

Leverage is all about taking things beyond your physical, mental, monetary, and time limits, and being able to expand those exponentially.

For the purpose of this principle, we’re going to be discussing leverage as it is related to bringing about success, but modern-day society most relates the principle of leverage to Archimedes who said, “give me a lever long enough, and prop strong enough, and I can move the world”.

There are 3 main aspects to leverage, the leverage of time, the leverage of money, and the leverage of applied knowledge.

1. The Leverage Of Time

We spoke about this in “The Principle Of Time Consciousness“, being aware of time, and that when you reach level 4 you are literally at your limit.

The leverage of time can set you free.

Essentially you are leveraging your time by utilizing other peoples’ time to accomplish what you need to do. By employing people to work with you, hiring outsourcing agents, or out-tasking the grunt work to data entry workers across the world.

2. The Leverage Of Money

Investment circles and educators call this OPM—Other Peoples’ Money, and say that it is the best way to invest. This isn’t ALWAYS true, and particularly when we talk about online, because of the minimal barriers to entry ($9 for a domain, $30 for hosting and the rest can be done by you), you may not need to employ the leverage of money.

3. The Leverage of Applied Knowledge

Can you imagine if you had to learn everything for yourself? As in you couldn’t read books, talk to people about their experiences, but had to actually learn for yourself and experience everything yourself? How long would it take for you to figure out what needed to be done and how to do it properly?

The idea is ludicrous, but there are also methods for speeding up your acquisition of knowledge, things like speed and photo-reading, having mentors, utilizing your available wasted time to listen to CDs/MP3s etc.

Now, you’ll notice that I put ‘applied’ in front of knowledge.

Knowledge by itself is wasteful, it is the application of that knowledge that helps you to move forward.

Sometimes to apply knowledge though, you’ll need several pieces, so you may learn one thing, and it may take 6 months, 3 years or more to actually put that knowledge into application, and for all the pieces to fall into place.

A simple method for getting around this however, is that you learn about what you need to learn about, when you need to learn it. If you are having cashflow problems in your business, learn how to bring more customers on or get your existing customers to spend more, don’t read and learn about how to find the best deals on eBay.

This last paragraph should be setting alarm bells. The Leverage of Applied Knowledge with Focus can have powerful effects. It means you are doing that which needs to be done, with the knowledge to get it done correctly the first time around.

If you have websites with PageRank 4 or higher then you could be making money within a few days, if not, then this report shows exactly how you can grab the domains you need quickly, or build them over time.

If you're already earning money online, Lazy Git Marketing shows how you can add an extra income stream to your existing business with a minimum of maintenance required. If you're just starting out Lazy Git Marketing provides a step-by-step plan to start earning a solid reliable recurring income online WITHOUT having to learn about SEO, WEB 2.0, PPC, AdSense, List Building, reselling PLR products or creating your own info-products.

Look at what these people are saying:

"So mind-numbingly simple, I wonder why I didn't think of it myself!" Joel Comm – JoelComm.com

"I've never seen any else write about what he's doing." Phil Wiley – PhilWiley.com

"The best part of using this technique is that you don't actually need traffic! That's right. It's crazy…but true. Adsense earnings rely on traffic and clicks…so if you're not getting much traffic to your sites you won't earn much from Adsense…but, this overlooked way of making money could be just what you're looking for." The Principle Of Time Consciousness by Daniel Turner & Marc Lindsay

I have often been called a time miser, someone that has such a high regard of time, I value it above almost all else.

This is very cliché, but it is also very true, that TIME is truly the only finite resource that we as human beings have.

Did you hear that? That was another 5 seconds passing, 5 seconds you’ll never get back.

Does that mean that you only care about getting the job done in the shortest possible time? No absolutely not, you must enjoy the journey, enjoy the process, but it also means that you should question the work and activities that you do, who you spend time with, and what you choose to do.

There is actually in my opinion 4 levels of time, at least what I have discovered up until this point in my life journey.

When you are at level 1, you are merely existing, going through the motions, at some point your dreams died, and with them your drive to achieve them. Maybe they were crushed, maybe they were just thrown out as being “too hard” or “people like me can’t do that”, but the end result is that this is one of the saddest events in the world, and it takes a significant even to break someone out of this apathy.

Level 2 is when you are aware of time, but you are not time-conscious (sounds like a contradiction). It means that you ‘know’ that you need to be aware of time, but your actions dictate otherwise. You’ll spend time in forums, surfing the web, and watching TV, basically wasting time doing activities that are not really going to help you.

Levels 1 and 2 are where the majority of the human race is at, either their dreams have been shattered, or they haven’t figured it out, and by figured it out I mean embodied it, that their actions dictate their results.

Level 3 is where you are aware of time, and of being efficient, and are working towards working on purely efficient and effective activities. Those things that are going to be moving you towards your end result. You will probably spend minimal time doing activities that don’t propel you forward, though you will feel you haven’t yet reached your ‘limit’.

Level 4 puts you into a challenging position. You have become aware of what I like to call true opportunity cost. Literally, if you spend time doing one activity, you lose the time to do the other activity, and you are forced to choose between the greater of 2 ideas or activities.

It’s not just activities, but people too. This is a hard reality to face, and I hated facing it when I first came across it, but you literally cannot help everyone in the world. At this point, you’ll start to question what you are doing, because you will be pushing your own boundaries on what you can accomplish, and if there is a Level 5, it isn’t so much a new level, but application of both Level 4 time, and leverage.

This has been a pretty heavy lesson, and you may need to re-read it, but it’s something you should apply. Look at every activity you do during the day (hint, keep a log or a journal), and ask yourself, is this worth my time?

Unleash Your E-Publishing Talent!

Information Fortunes Exposed!

Whether you believe me or not, you do have an info-product inside you!

If you have been researching or involved in online business for very long, you have no doubt seen a multitude of offers for ‘e-books’, books, reports and training courses on every subject imaginable.

Why? Because information is the hottest product on the market! (At the foundational level, it’s actually the ONLY product, but that’s another course.)

Information cuts straight to the root of all selling, which is answering the customer’s question: “What will this product do for me?”

There’s another reason, though. Pure information is a product that doesn’t require a huge financial overhead to produce—other than the hard knocks you got in gaining the experience and information—and is easy and relatively low-cost to deliver to the customer. That is what makes it such a great product for us, as entrepreneurs, to offer.

Everyone has life experience, training, and skills that others don’t have. Everyone knows something that others want to know, or can do something that others want to learn.

That’s how I know you have an info-product inside you, everyone does. Your first assignment is to decide which of your many gifts you are going to offer to the world!

Does that mean you have to be able to write a book? No. Not necessarily. I’m talking about what is known as USP…Unique Selling Position. Your USP might be that you have detailed knowledge about someone else’s product that you are selling as an affiliate.

It could be that humorous way you present the information you have collected on some subject of interest, or the fact that you offer the best customer service available for the service you offer. You may offer the same products that others are also selling, but find your own unique market for them.

But whatever you decide to use for your information product, your USP, you need to find one. If you were to research the online marketers who are honestly making the money they claim to be earning online, you would discover that they all have a USP. Your USP IS your product; however you package and deliver it.

If you are working a Multi-level Marketing program or one of the BIBs (Business in a Box), you are not left out of this concept, but you may have to work harder to figure out how to be unique.

You can still go for the niche marketing idea. Find a group of people who aren’t usually reached by these kinds of businesses, or aim your advertising at people in the countries that are just now going online.

You may, of course, actually write a book, e-book or training course and sell it. As you probably know, many are making good money doing just that. The list of helpful software and online publishers is growing every day.

But even if you write your own product or design your own software, you will still need a well-thought-out USP to stand out in the crowd. It’s like your business plan—you need a firm foundation before you can build your future online success.

Find out how easily you can create best selling info-products, one after another…

The Lost Art Of Pelmanism

We recently learned a new word and it’s ‘Pelmanism’. Not to sure if it’s named after a person, but whoever he is, Joe Vitale seems to be very big fan of his. And this person is no longer in this world. Your first clue is this person apparently is one generation ahead of Napoleon Hill. Get the drift? He has written 12 volumes of long-lost information published in 1919 on the subjects of knowledge, senses, purpose, concentration, mental connection, imagination, originality, the pursuit of truth, personality and many more. If you are very much into self-development, we’re sure you won’t want to miss this one. Discover the Lost Art of Pelmanism.

adgridwork: your free advertising and link exchange network

Back in December 2006, Nick Mazza and Kyle Johnson conceived and created adgridwork as a simple, free and effective way of quickly promoting a website. At the time, advertising options were limited to paying for banner ads or text links, using a contextual service (like AdSense), or manually contacting and trading links with other webmasters. Thus, adgridwork becomes a free, open advertising network that allows bloggers, small businesses and other website owners to submit their ads into, and in exchange for serving their ads on thousands of highly targeted and related sites, they are also required to serve ads for other users. The end result would be a giant community of websites that would all help one another promote and market their products, ideas and services for free!

3 Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories by Gregg Hall

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills back. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why article writing, submissions and publications are also getting popular.

There are already many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, which is only half of the story.

Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.

In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them or passing them on to others.

You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better content.

2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing.

You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same articles?

Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor text which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this and overdoing keyword density can cost you.

Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits.

But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings, not just increase the number of visitors to your site. We will be going over some of those methods in future letters and lessons. As a hint, one of the best performing affiliate programs for me right now is eBay!

Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.

3. Publishing content that does not help your readers.

Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine.

Guess what? Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting.

You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight.

Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf. Do you really think that people who are submitting 20 articles a day to the article directories are doing it themselves?

In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level, or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality content.

It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people.

Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.

Amazon releases all-new Amazon Widgets.

The Amazon Associates program has launched Amazon Widgets. Amazon Widgets are small, visually dynamic, easily configurable tools that allow you to feature products from Amazon on your website, blog or social networking pages. In as little as one minute you can populate a widget with your favorite Amazon products, your comments about those products, and select from a set of color and layout themes to match both your mood and website.

Widgets are an extension to the classic Associate Links offerings and likewise, you can earn referral fees of up to 10% on these new widgets.

These are the types of widgets available:

Slideshow: Pick your favorite images from the Amazon catalog and present them as a stylish slideshow. Showcase your favorite CD cover art, present recently read books, or even reveal your favorite breakfast cereals. Slideshow also lets you overlay your comments on the selected images.

My Favorites: Express yourself by recommending and commenting on your favorite products from Amazon. This widget lets everyone know how you feel and what you like by showing product images, information and your own comments.

Quick Linker: Quickly build links to products on Amazon without having to visit Associates Central. By inserting a set of custom HTML tags as you write your content, you can quickly link to products on Amazon. For example, typing “Harry Potter” would link to a Search Results page on Amazon for the term “Harry Potter”. This is a great new tool that will be handy for all Associates and bloggers that write their own content.

Wish List: Display your Amazon Wish List on your site and let friends, family, and others know what you want.

Product Cloud: Take tag clouds or word clusters one step further by showing Product Clouds. Product Clouds engage site visitors by displaying product titles that are relevant to the content of the page in a cloud or cluster with the most popular product bolded. Site visitors can click on the title to directly visit the product page on Amazon.

Amazon Unbox Video Previewer: Show movie studio and TV network previews for a wide range of new release and classic movies or television shows available from the Amazon Unbox video download service. Users can select by attributes, such as genre, for previews they want to show on their websites.

How to add social bookmarking buttons to WP and Blogger blogs (updated).

For WordPress Blogs

I have tried and tested several plugins like WP-Notable and “Share This“, but by far Sociable covers the largest number of social bookmarking sites and is the easiest to install. Hence if you’d notice, I’ve changed to this plugin.

Also notice that there is an outstanding role of buttons that does not seem to belong to the group under “Share and Enjoy”. Sociable produces “Share and Enjoy”. As bookmarking sites proliferate, I found myself adding more buttons manually. If there’s a little ‘techie-ness’ in you, you should be able to do this too once you understand the structure of the coding.

For your convenience I’ll just publish the codings for all the other bookmarking sites to date, starting with DropJack:

<?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_title(); ?>

diigo it

<?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_title(); ?>

<?php the_title(); ?>

I have no idea how your WP pages are formatted, but if you have a preferred position to place these buttons I trust that you’ll figure it out soon. Only 3 files from your WP template needs to be edited: index.php, archive.php and single.php. To give you a clue based on my own files:

1) index.php: the coding is placed between

and

2) archive.php: the coding is placed between

and '

Pages: ', 'after' => '

', 'next_or_number' => 'number')); ?>

3) single.php: the coding is placed between <?php the_content('

Read the rest of this entry »

'); ?> and '

Pages: ', 'after' => '

', 'next_or_number' => 'number')); ?>

Reload the files in the template directory. Hopefully it should work.

Insider Secrets For Exploding Affiliate Sales AND Build Profitable E-Mail Lists!

Affiliate Avalanche

Are you making money with affiliate marketing? If you answered “yes”, I’m willing to bet you could be making even more under the right circumstances. If you answered “no”, I’m willing to bet you’ve never read Affiliate Avalanche by David Cooper.

Whether you’re already raking it in or are just now thinking about getting started, Affiliate Avalanche is a winner. Cooper has managed to create and present a complete “worldview” on the topic of affiliate marketing that combines rock-solid basic wisdom with moneymaking advanced insights.

Nine out of every ten Internet marketing ebooks are disappointments. Sure, you can pore through them and find one or two things you might not have thought about by yourself already, but for the most part many ebooks are a waste. They’re filled with reheated and rehashed basics disguised as “secrets” and have no real value to anyone other than the greenest beginner.

One out of every ten Internet marketing ebooks, however, is a keeper. Affiliate Avalanche is part of that hyper-valuable minority. Here are three reasons why Affiliate Avalanche is a must-buy guide to the world of affiliate marketing:

1) No nonsense. David Cooper didn’t fill the book with a series of silly personal narratives or other goofy fluff material. Affiliate Avalanche is focused purely on affiliate marketing and how to do it successfully. This is a hardcore, nuts and bolts look at how to make money with affiliate marketing.

2) The right balance. Cooper doesn’t chase after a single mythical golden goose, but he also manages not to pretend as if the whole world of affiliate marketing can be boiled down to one sentence. This ebook strikes a perfect balance between coverage and analysis. It also recognizes the many different ways one can succeed with affiliate marketing instead of pretending as if there’s only one way. Affiliate Avalanche also combines affiliate marketing basics with expert details in just the right combination.

3) Clear instruction. Many ebooks suffer from a “tell, but don’t show” problem. They tell you what to do, but they leave out the important information about how to actually do it. That’s not a problem with this one. Affiliate Avalanche doesn’t just tell you the steps; it provides real instruction with respect to implementation. That saves time and makes sure that you can actually use the material to produce results.

Whether you’re looking to get started with affiliate marketing or to improve your existing business, Affiliate Avalanche is a worthwhile investment. The ebook is also backed by a sound guarantee, making it a risk-free proposition. If you want to have all the information you’ll need in one handy place, Affiliate Avalanche is the way to go.

Blogger.com introduces inline AdSense ads.

Just wanted to bring your attention to a small yet nifty (and long-requested!) feature Google recently added to Blogger’s AdSense integration: inline ads.

You can now show AdSense ads inside your block of blog posts, up to 3 times on your main blog page. This should definitely improve monetization for those of you using AdSense on your blogs, as this places the ads inline with your blogs’ actual content. The AdSense blog shows how it works.

This is my self-development blog if you haven’t been visiting. Watch for the banner-size inline ads between posts.

6 Ways To More Effective Viral Marketing

1. Purchase the branding rights to a viral e-book. Allow people to give away your free e-book to their visitors. Then, their visitors will also give it away. This will just continue to spread your ad all over the Internet.

2. If you have the ability to set up a forum or other bulletin board, you really have a great tool. Allow people to use your online discussion board for their own website. Some people don’t have one. Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.

3. Do you have a knack for web design? Create some templates, graphics, etc. and upload them to your site. Then, allow people to give away your free web design graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad on them or require people to link directly to your web site. Make sure that you include a link back to your site in the copyright notice and require them to keep your copyright notice intact.

4. Write an e-book. Allow people to place an advertisement in your free e-book if, in exchange, they give away the e-book to their web visitors or e-zine subscribers.

5. Write articles that pertain to your product or service. Allow people to reprint your articles on their website, in their e-zine, newsletter, magazine or e-books. Include your resource box and the option for article reprints at the bottom of each article.

6. You can easily find products on the Internet that will sell you a license allowing you to distribute the product free of charge to other people. Look for those products that provide “branding rights”. That is where you can include your own name, website, and contact information.
