From The Desk Of Viral Marketing Mom
October 9th, 2009 by viralmarketingmomWell, it has been over a year since launching and passively marketing my Viral Marketing Mom Twitter; just a year since being a part of the launch of Viral Networks (I am a social media addict - have to connect to all) and secured this blog subject. I have launched numerous blogs over this time, but this is the most under developed. I spent this year developing and blogging was one of the deficiencies that I had. Not the technical aspect, but that writing and blogging take time and commitment that I did not think that I had. Now, I am a blogging mama
So, I am back to bring this one up to speed.
Viral Marketing Mom has been one of the most enjoyable keyword user names and stable tests implemented over the year (meaning the “Viral Marketing Mom” branding) over the year. It was passively developed, and effective. I have been a laugh to internationals that Tweet funny messages of a viral mom
and then some associates have begun to tease me by that name from time to time. Cute!
The reality is that after years of corporate terminologies and entering the home business market after such a long time, Viral Marketing - Viral List Builders - Viral Exposure were the keywords and business modules of so many new launches. I became somewhat obsessed with knowing every literal and broad definition, usage and potential of the concept. Some are very much exaggerated, though just about every effort in Internet Marketing has viral capabilities.
We know the obvious Viral Marketing methods:
- Ebooks
- List Builders
- Social Networks (Twitter / Facebook in the tops of course)
- Social Bookmarking
- Word Of Mouth
- Videos
- Article Marketing
etc. etc. etc., but what about the potential of what we overlook as viral marketing or complementary efforts?
- Organic SEO
- Link Popularity Campaigns
- New Business Launches
- Groups (invite friends watch people come)
- Visual Aids / Webinar Trainings
- Gifting
- Blogging
- Post Card Marketing
Forums, Fundraisers & Children (Children’s activities) spreading the word provide viral advantages as well. Some we overlook when they are viral as well. It is just a new name for Word Of Mouth / Guerilla marketing though in this Web 2.0 era the online focus and advantages are more specific to Viral Marketing opposed to the others. I find Social Media and Viral Marketing just as exciting as SEO and Training. Sometimes amazingly fulfilling and effective processes come by a combination of what is traditionally considered one practice or another. They are all one in the same to me … Internet Marketing / E-Commerce. One heck of a lot of fun to have as a business and hobby.
My deficiencies and disadvantages during this time:
1) I can be a bit “lazy” about implementing multiple strategies when one process is consistently effective.
2) Make a viral “boo boo” and you have to virally rectify the campaign - Pull hair if Google reads fast - LOL
